Seven members of our Congregation headed down to La Puente in Alamosa to help with the many different tasks they need help with.
La Puente is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Colorado’s San Luis Valley by providing food, shelter, and advocacy for the homeless and community members in crisis.
La Puente serves the San Luis Valley with many different programs, including a shelter, food bank, PALS (Positive Activities Lead to Success) after school and summer children’s program, Rethreads clothing bank and VEGI (Valley Educational Gardens Initiative.) They also run Rainbow’s End Thrift Store and Milagros Coffee House.
Needless to say, there is always something they need help with at La Puente. The UCC group helped harvest in the garden, split wood, cook nutritious meals, and visited with the PALS kids.

We will also be sending another group down to La Puente later this winter. Stay tuned for dates and let us know if you are interested in joining our next trip!
