Our Guatemala Mission Team is getting ready to head south to do good work with our mission partners, Porch de Salomon and Casa Milagro.
Porch de Salomon is a unique and progressive, non-profit ministry which, since 2005, has loved, served, and encouraged “the lost, the least, and the last” (and others!) of Guatemala’s Lake Atitlan basin by:
*Hosting short-term mission teams: indigenous home construction, community building construction, medical/dental/vision/audiology clinics, and relation building
* Providing high-impact, year-round, humanitarian relief to indigenous people: food, clean water, infant relief, medicine, school scholarships, substance abuse recovery, counseling, and more
* Operating Solomon’s Porch café/worship gathering
* Live music outreach, community service, and creative partnering in Panajachel’s “hippie” and expatriate communities
* Encouraging high-impact spiritual growth in individuals and congregations through their involvement in Porch’s work in Guatemala.
Thanks to our Congregation’s generous donations, we will be able to sponsor two medical clinics while our team is there. They will also be helping to build a house.
Casa Milagro is an organization designed for widows and mothers and their children in the village of Santa Cruz on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. They provide an open and safe environment for children and women to congregate during the day. Thilda Zorn founded Casa Milagro in 1992, after moving from Germany where she was a social worker.
Our team is bringing much needed vitamins, toothbrushes, toothpaste and toys to the mothers and children at Casa Milagro, along with money we collected in the coin jars (we raised over $600 just in coins!)
Thank you all for your generous support of this mission trip. We love staying connected to our partners around the world.
